Sooner or later project will be similar to proxmark. Such project just NEED some analog frontend, FPGA chip for modulation and demodulation and microcontroller with USB for configuration and data buffering.
Single microprocessor is not enought powerfull to handle USB communication and software demodulation. Of course if you choose particular modulation type and select apropriate processor, but there will be always some kind modulation which you cannot handle.
Or we could just do one step back in evolution and changes USB with RS232 which does require any computation power when not used for communication.

This device may have its uses but, there are a host of hurdles to jump. I would think most, if not all signals, in that range are digital and encrypted. I guess you could forget that part and just concentrate on the few signals out there that are analog and without encryption.
Help me understand what you could do with this.

Nevermind.....for some reason I ended up at the KickStarter site for the HackRF by Michael Ossmann. Sorry for the confusion. However, now I'm puzzled why the PM3 is being re-invented all over again. You can achieve the same thing with the PM3 and even strip out all the HF stuff to streamline the FPGA and client code a bit.

Did anyone noticed it is planned to supports only LF tags?
They are claiming that Rfidler will support HF tags in future, I doubt if it will work only with adding HF frontend.

Other than what you can find out from the Kickstarter page? Not really. It's still under development.
There is no sign of backers receiving their RFIDlers any time soon.
These types of campaigns usually run overtime.
