Lto 1 2 3

Hello
i have a proxmark 3 easy (512m). i tried to read the rfid tapes from lto 1, 2, 3 but i dont get any result.
i tried some from the posting in  http://www.proxmark.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2686
and the lto funktion itself from the firmware without any response.

i am using kali without the gui (the kde was installed but it dont want to start at booting, dont know why, installed twice with
the same result, so i am working in text mode). Compiling and burning the firmware worked well.

other sample cards are working.

the antenna shows voltage changing if the tape goes to the near.
hf search doesnt show anything.

with hf 14a raw ... i don't get anything too in any combination.
(hf 14a raw -b 7 45)
(the command from the post hf 14a raw -p -a -b 7 45 refers
to older firmware maybe, the actual dont have the p switch it seems)
so i dont get anything like this in the post

[usb] pm3 --> hf 14a raw -p -a -b 7 45
received 2 bytes
00 03

Is there maybe a problem with the antenna or the lto versions
because the post is about lto 5?

i am not verry well in electronics and programming and would
be lucky if someone have any idea

regards

Which fw/client are you running on your device?

Re: Lto 1 2 3

hello
in the clean kali installation i updated first some
packages needed for proxmark, than i get it from there

sudo git clone https://github.com/RfidResearchGroup/proxmark3.git

than i made it it as followed i read in a readme

"
# copy Makefile.platform.sampl Makefile.platform
# PLATFORM=PM3OTHER
cd proxmark3 (normal mode)
./pm3-flash-bootrom (in service mode)
./pm3-flash-fullimage (in service mode)
./pm3 (normal mode)
"

compiling and flashing was without errors and pm3 is running
and connecting and its working fine with the sample cards

Re: Lto 1 2 3

hello
yes with
"hf lto info"
i got
"Wrong response length ( 2 != 0 )"

with
"hf lto dump -f myfile"
the same

Edit: 20:44

i found something out

if the pm is laying on the table and i put a normal card on the topside then the normal
card can be read. if i hold the lto tape the same position there than it doesnt work.

but if i hold the bottom of the reader on the edge of the tape where the rfid is than it will read it
and its only a verry small area where it works.

so i think the performance of the antenna is to low but how to solve this?

Re: Lto 1 2 3

So your original question is solved.  That is good.

14a coupling is picky on PM3.  You will need to experiment with different positions and distances between tag antenna and pm3 antenna.

The pm3 easy may or may not have a good antenna,  it depends if you got a proper one or not.
