Read HID tag without an antenna/proper commands?

Can I read an HID tag without an antenna?
What are the proper commands and which flash shoud I use?

Are the commands:
tune
hiread
hisamples

Is that it?

you will need an antenna.

Yep, you'll definitely need antenna. See this post for some suggestions. You can make a temporary one with about 100 turns on a toilet paper roll. If you use the code from 20081211_prox.zip there are ready make decoder commands, hidfskdemod and hidsimtag, see this post

d18c7db this is what happens when I run those commands:
  hiddemod      -- HID Prox Card II (not optimal)
  hidfskdemod   -- HID FSK demodulator
  hidsimtag     -- HID tag simulator
  fpgaoff       -- set FPGA off
  lcdreset      -- Hardware reset LCD
  lcd           -- Send command/data to LCD
  test          -- Placeholder command for testing new code
  quit          -- quit program

and also: help, cls
> hidfskdemod
#db# unknown command
> hidsimtag
Emulating tag with ID 0               0
#db# unknown command

Everyting compiled/flashed fine.
Did I miss something?

I believe the commands referenced by d18c7db are specific to his version of the windows client (and firmware). You would need to build from the his latest sources.

Figured it out I didn't flash fpgaimage.s19.
