Re: (Solved)Need help to revive my pm3

if you have the pm3 unplugged and you hold the button in and plug it into a new windows computer (fresh computer) while holding the button and the computer doesn't detect anything on the USB then you likely will have to jtag the device to recover it.

Re: (Solved)Need help to revive my pm3

btw, I don't offer help when a user is using iceman's build.  imo only advanced users that can fix their own issues should be using that fork.  if you want support, stick with the official repo.

Re: (Solved)Need help to revive my pm3

Thanks for your reply,I will try with other computer later today, but I want to know why precompiled iceman's build causing pm3 go brick though,I've been using Iceman's official build to update a firmware no problem until now, don't you think someone should warn people not to use both Iceman's and official precompiled build to prevent bricking pm3 until finding out what's causing pm3 bricking...

Re: (Solved)Need help to revive my pm3

Hi,thanks again,I did not aware of that,I thought you and Iceman are working partner or should said that you are an administrator as Iceman,to be honest with you,I've using only precompiled official build till now, recently I upgraded firmware from precompiled official build to Iceman's build, that is what I made a mistake, but I hope you help me out though as you did last time when I was in trouble...

Re: (Solved)Need help to revive my pm3

There are some topics regarding the iceman fork bricking events already.

Iceman's fork itself warns you that it is bleeding edge work and that he often breaks stuff. (He usually fixes it, but if you flashed when it was broken be ready to jtag...)

Re: (Solved)Need help to revive my pm3

Iceman is an admin here, I am a moderator here.  And yes we have often collaborated on pieces of pm3 code.  Iceman is nice enough to share publicly his pm3 playground code.  But that is what it is, his personal code modifications with no stability promises afaik.  Iceman can chime in as he sees fit.

I am unaware of any bricking events related to the official pm3 repo in the past 6 years at least.

Re: (Solved)Need help to revive my pm3

as i said above, if nothing is detected on a fresh computer (one it hasn't been installed on before) when it is plugged in with the button pressed (and nothing when the button is not pressed) then your bootrom is hosed...  and a jtag probably could recover it.

Re: (Solved)Need help to revive my pm3

...when it comes to precompiled binaries,  there is little I can do.  I don't distribute them nor do I compile them.
...I'm not aware of any bricking since the october bricking incident,   and those pre-compiled binaries should have been erased to avoid further misshaps.
...however,   as mentioned in all other sources like wiki and threads,  there is more need of information in order to conclude what has gone wrong.   Usually,  the com-port changes when going from Offical pm3 -> iceman fork or the other way,  makes many users think their pm3 is bricked since they tend to use the flash.bat files etc.

...ask the maintainer who you downloaded the precompiled binary from and ask if s/he gotten more ppl with problems.
...use a jlink,  buspirate and flash the recover bin and your pm3 is back to normal.

Re: (Solved)Need help to revive my pm3

when you fail bootrom flashing, that can happen,  nothing to do with the precompiled binary,  but yeah,  you need to JTAG it.
You can look at the webshops recommended by the forum,   and the rest is up to you.
