Need help with "hf 14a reader" and "hf 14a cuids 1" commands

Dear All,

I'm using the windows GUI interface (pm3_bin_2.5.0) updated with the hardnested new command (1.7.0.0) and i'm trying to gather basic information such as the UID of a Mizip tag .

I have built an HF antenna which gives 8.60 volts.

When i'm using the following commands

hf 14a reader, and hf 14a cuids 1, the PM3 red leds keep brighting for some seconds and then they blink once and the realy can be heard and then nothing else can be done. PM3 need to be reseted and the soft should be start again ...

I have tried to test with a mifare classic tag which i was working on some time ago, same problem ...

May I ask you help please ?

I have downloaded the two files as you have mentionned in your post and replace both files in the Client directory.
Do i have done something wrong ?

still wondering what is going wrong ...
The communication between the gui interface abd the PM3 is OK, i can read the version and test the tune but it looks like hf command do not run...
May i ask you what kind of test i can do please ?

firstly the client menu file is prepared with almost all the new commands in it, so user can call the newest implementation for example recently the cloning of AWID 50bit RHB tags. as incentive for a more sooner merging release process.

So if iceman fork is not yet in the main branch release you use the new client menu you still able to call all the previous commands. but not the call t new implementation eg. in Iceman fork. Click on hardnested will result unknow command, a help of all PM3 available commands is displayed as a sign. so it is no harm to have that file installed first.

Secondly, When you want to use hardnested then it is only available in iceman fork. You can read in the release note that it does not work in GUI, so in order to use GUI commands menu, you need to wait for holiman to merge iceman fork into the main branch SW release.

third, the worse expect you, if you ignore his warning "iceman fork not working with GUI", and flash the board wit iceman's build but run proxmark3 in GUI ad hence mixing SW with a different proxmark3.exe .

You should never mix SW build.

Your fault sound like a WDR. HW crashed. (perhaps by mixing of SW elf/exe?)

with "hf 14a read" I don't have much cards but on mifare classic and UL (blank card) I can say it runs fine in iceman SW, run in CLI

I dont have 14b card/tag so I can not check the fault for you. If you use iceman's , stay in CLI run in CLI.

Heard there is antenna issue to read 14B. you should search forum, there are several users who know about system configuration to read 14B. pls ask them, I think they would not mind to share experience.

nope. You have done nothing wrong with updating the two new files in the client directory. Thank for your trust to test out my files so soon.

The "defaukt_keys.dic" is use in group/HF/14a/mifare/classic/hacks so for this Mifare section only. have that file in the directory will help you checking nt only 12 keys available in standard release, but about 200 keys, collected by Iceman all over the web and forums, thank to him for sharing. if you run check key commands with swapping new against old file you would see the diff.

The second file as explained before, contains
-if any command have long argument list eg nested, hardnested where in most case user run those leave most of the arguments unchanged, then the activate button and fields to changed are moved to the top, so users do not need to resize moving window up/down to find the activate button.,
- new items in the commands menu, reserved for commands which are available in SW fork already so beta tested, but not yet in main release. So as soon as holliman realease of a new main SW arrive, you could be sure for your convenience that the GUI command menu already ready contained changed required to be used with the new SW, I will menu setting file as soon as possible.

Unless I miss a new implementation sometimes can happen, then just give a knock.

I have keep investigating in my problem and i have finally managed to get the UID of the tag but only once ... Strange phenomena occurs with the PM3 as it has worked one time only and after that I have not been able to reproduce the successful command. I have not change anything in the operation but i can no more read the UID, led keep shining red for seconds and then the PM3 reset ...

This problem occurs also with the original antenna and a old tag which UID was readable easily...

Need your help , any idea please ?

make sure all the time that antenna is good.

for good reading U need to find good distance/psition/angle to antenna.

Dear Ntk,

The strange thing is that the PM3 reset after attempting to read the UID where , in "usual" condition, it does not crash and the GUI just display an error message ...

I can not figure out what is going on ...

sure no SW mixed.

you need HW version
data of change of elf and exe files
you can also set dbg to lev 4, capture log and upload to pastebin.

According to you, is the firmware version too old for the GUI software ?
I have succeed in reading the UID once so i'm not sure of that but who knows ?

Your bootrom and firmware on the device is outdated.
Please compile and flash bootroom, fullimage and use the latest client from github. you find plenty of posts here and more instructions on the wiki how to flash.

I'm trying to gather information on how updating bootrom and firmware. When reading the wiki concerning a windows 7 installation, some links for files such as "ProxSpace-130613.7z" are no more active... (ex.: http://code.google.com/p/proxmark3/downloads/list )

I'm a not skilled at all concerning github usage as it will be the first time i use it and I'm afraid for the health of the PM3 ...

Sorry to bother but i'm lost in the docker world ...

From what i have read and understand Doker seems to be the best solution for my case but as you would have guess I do not have a great level in computer science ...

May i ask you if there is any chance to work with docker under Windws 7 please ? (Boot2docker ?)

I have also access to an ubuntu based computer but i'm still discovering linux.

May I ask you what are the logical steps for accessing and exploiting the Iceman docker fork please ?

Do you think that it would be possible for you to write a quick tuto in order to help newbie like me ?

Skappy, I don't use docker so I not much help for you.

As far as I know it seems to be straight forwards upto compiling, flashing,
A lot of people have started to installed them. There seems to be no negative feedback.
You can read here .

you should follow the procedure, and the video , step by step.

and if you hit difficulty/have failure, voice on the docker thread so iceman can help you. Voice not for yourself, just for other people who will follow you and would appreciate your feedback from the trial to install docker.

I have finally succeed in installing docker Under Windows 8.1 !
Many thanks to Iceman for the very helpful videos ...
I have installed the 1.6.1 Iceman distribution and i have tried to flash the PM3.
You will find enclosed a screen copy

it seems that everything goes well but now, the 2 red leds keep shining for about 15 seconds and then the PM3 reboot and a new cycle begins ...

I have no more the possibilty to select the PM3 in the Oracle VM VirtualBox , PM3 does not appear ...

May i ask you help please ?

It seems that the PM3 is recognized but only when I keep pressing the PM3 button, as soon as i release it , the PM3 is not more recognized any more ...

When button pressed, I have tried the "HW STATUS" and it returns " Status command failed. USB Speed Test times out".

May I ask you any help please ?

Can you post the hardware you are running marsh? I have used various installs and different hardware VM's with nothing but trouble like the user above and many others..
Maybe there is something we are missing, because most people are having these exact same problems with an unstable pm3 in Vm.

Do you have a PM3 v2?
I cannot attest to the USB stability of the original, just the V2.

Skappy, do you have the elechouse pm3v2? Im going to suggest you try a regular linux or OSX machine for testing to eliminate VM/USB issues with your device.

main machine is a Surface Pro 4 running windows 10. I also have run an older Dell box running windows 7.

pm3's are older models from proxmark3.com.

lately i've run vmplayer running ubuntu, and hyperV running windows xp.

serveral win 7, 10 installations, running vmware machines, with guest os win7,10, ubuntu 1404, 1510,
docker on win10, uses virtualbox,

Once you learn the quirks with usb attaching/detaching it works just fine.
I have run 4 different models of Proxmark3 in this setup. Not an issue,

But I did the newbie error with xfpga.com model, to connect the cable wrong, etc.. Hard to do this misstake with RDV2.0 from elechouse.
