just for exercise i modified the board shematic, to see if i can do it cheaper.
You find it here: proxmark3.1.pdf
Here what i did:
-removed C8 (it was only 1nF and it's in parallel with a 4,7uF capacitor C9!!)
Hello gaucho. I'd be interested in collaborating on an alternative h/w version of the PM3 (if you're still planning it after your marathon build!).
I'm an electronics engineer by education and training but the time I have available to work on personal projects may be limited.
The link to your proposed alternative schematic is broken. Is there an alternative link?
Also - with regard to your proposal to remove C8 I'd advise against it. The two capacitors are in parallel and one may therefore seem to be redundant, but they perform slightly different tasks. The 4.7uF cap smooths the PSU but can't really decouple HF noise from the power line. That's done by the 1nF cap.
A quick explanation here: http://www.capacitorguide.com/coupling-and-decoupling/

Gbhuk, interesting.
Please read this all. http://www.proxmark.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1607&p=2
I have to find the pdf but on that thread there is the description of my idea.

Hi all.
I am working on manufacturing some PM3s; the factory is unable to obtain some parts:
1. Can the AT91SAM7S512-AU be replaced by its successor, version B?
2. Can the OMRON Relay in RLY1 be replaced with Panasonic TQ2SA-5V?
Thanks in advance

Hi gaucho!
Reading through the posts I understand you've spent considerable time and effort in getting the boards made.
Will there be any chance that you'd be letting go of any/reproducing any? I'm interested to get my hands on a unit.
Thanks!
