19 year old 13.56Mhz Tag - not known... so then?

Hi!

I have someone who showed me his door entry card which is already 19yrs old!!!
Security by obscurity? No by outdated systems :-P

hw tune had a dropdown from 30v to 20v at 13.56 but hf search did not find anything.
also checking with a ACR122U and nfc-list did not show up anything (just to crosstest).
Just to make sure I tried lf search and manually some testing with 14a and the others..

how could you check in such a case what type of card and content it is?
I used my phone´s flash light to check the chip.
Compared to my other mifare card it seems to be rather same size and single chip.

Last week I saw a 13.56 card with two chips in a row, which I could also not read. They have been very new cards for a high secure environment. Also no chance to find anything with hf search. In both cases card owners could not tell me what type of card it is.

Any help on this? smile

Thanks!

Any numbers written?  Company logo? etc anything that can be used to trace it origin.

If the 13.56 drops,  then you need to use the "hf search"  not  "lf search"

Nothing than the employees company id name / company details branding
Nothing vendor specific that could trace back the card

On the back it has a 5 digit number which is a card id related number, saw it increasing on a second card.

Yep, i know.. Just to make sure I ran lf search too, but thought it would not work :-P

Try all other "hf" commands  not all are hooked into "hf search"

Ok im gonna give it a try tomorrow again. Last chance.

Next week i am at the other company with the "dual chip" card that didnt respond too.
Maybe the company name on the door reader will give more information there.
The company with the old card is at a place where i am not allowed to go to.. So no chance for further ananlysis

The crazy thing, its still in use in a secured and monitored environment and belongs to one of the employees lol
If i would have one id send it to you. Im gonna ask him, but i dont think that this would be possible

If you are around Canary Wharf, I have a TWN4 which would more than likely tell you what card it is.
Happy to meet up with my lap top and let you know.

Re: 19 year old 13.56Mhz Tag - not known... so then?

like iceman wrote: not all is hooked up in hf search ...
my legic tag was also not recognized this way -
I have to lay it direct onto the antenna and do a 'hf legic reader' to get it identified
and since legic was founded in 1990 - there is a possibility that this is a legic tag too.

@mosci, I've added "legic" to "hf search" in iceman fork.  Still issues with "hf legic sim"...

@iceman ...ok - I have pulled and compiled it last week, but not flashed yet ...
I'm just hoping that this is another legic mim22 or mim256 - so I can help a little bit wink

yeah,  not this thread, but I remade it a bit.  Some of your excellent legic script doesnt work anymore because of it sad

@OP, This unknown tag could be a old legic tag.  the current Pm3 imp of legic is picky with antenna strength and precise positioning.
